FG declares Friday, Monday public holidays for Easter

Federal government has announced that Friday April 7 and Monday April 10 will be public holidays to celebrate Easter. The declaration was made by Rauf Aregbesola, the minister of interior, and was conveyed in a statement signed by Shuaib Belgore, the permanent secretary in the ministry of interior.

In the statement, Aregbesola called on Christians to imbibe the values of sacrifice, forgiveness, and togetherness embodied by Jesus Christ.

He also encouraged Nigerians to emulate Jesus' attributes of kindness, love, peace, and patience, which are essential for nation-building.

Furthermore, the minister urged Nigerians to use the opportunity of the holiday to pray for an end to the security challenges affecting some parts of the country, stressing that security is everyone's responsibility.

Aregbesola called on citizens to channel their creative energy towards achieving national prosperity, assuring them that the government is committed to ensuring a peaceful transition of power following the presidential election.
