CBN warns banks against rejecting old dollar notes, lower denominations

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has warned Deposit Money Banks (DMB) and forex (FX) dealers to stop rejecting old series and lower denominations of the United States Dollar (USD). Nigeria's Access Bank makes further Africa push, buys Botswana bank

Nigeria’s biggest lender Access Bank has agreed to buy a majority stake in African Banking Corporation of Botswana for cash, a month after acquiring a South African bank. Access Bank is expanding across the African continent to counter stagflation and dollar shortages in Nigeria that have frustrated businesses, shrinking the lending market. Uber, Bolt drivers begin strike Monday

Some Uber and Bolt e-cab drivers in Lagos on Saturday asked the e-hailing companies to immediately increase fares being charged by the operators, failing which they would go off the roads on Monday. Buyer emerges for Shoprite’s Nigerian business

Nigerian property group Persianas is buying Shoprite’s business in Nigeria as the South African retailer retreats from other African markets, three banking sources told Reuters on Wednesday.
