Bola Tinubu, president-elect, has returned to the country after a working visit to Europe. The president-elect, who spent about 10 days in Europe, was received at the Abuja airport by Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Kashim Shettima, vice-president-elect, Godswill Akpabio, a former minister of Niger Delta affairs, and Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano, among others. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Oluwatoyin Madein as the substantive Accountant-General of the Federation. Madein’s appointment followed a successful selection process to fill the existing vacancy. Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), Folasade Yemi-Esan, made this known on Friday in Abuja in a statement by Mohammed Ahmed, the communication director in her office. Federation Account Allocation Committee says it shared N655.93bn among the three tiers of government in April 2023. National Population Commission (NPC) says it has spent about N200 billion for the preparation of the 2023 population and housing census. Speaking at a breakfast meeting on Thursday, Nasir Kwarra, executive chairman of the commission, said the money spent was part of the N800 billion expected from the federal government as the total budget for the conduct of the population census. Femi Adesina, presidential spokesperson, in a statement on Thursday, said Buhari also approved the appointment of James Akintola as the board chairman of FERMA to succeed Tunde Lemo. The federal executive council (FEC) has approved the concessioning of the Nnamdi Azikiwe international Airport, Abuja, and the Mallam Aminu Kano international airport in Kano. The council gave the approval on Wednesday at a meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
