Gunmen have abducted the wife of the youth leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State, Arikeade Oni-Salawu, Sunday night.

Mrs Salawu, a medical doctor, was Kidnapped in front of her house at Aromolaran, Old Ife Road, Ibadan.

A former Spokesman of the party, Wasiu Sadare, who confirmed the incident on Monday, said the development is unfortunate, urging security agencies to rescue the victim.

Sadare said, “This is unfortunate. We don’t want to talk now so as to allow security agencies to do their work.

“We pray for her quick release. Those people are yet to contact the family.”

The abducted woman was driving in front of her husband, Areokuta Salawu’s car, but was abducted when she was about to open their house’s gate to gain entrance.

One of the party members had earlier told reporters in Ibadan on Monday morning that; “They were both coming home. She was driving in front while the husband was driving behind.

“As she alighted to open the gate of the house, the kidnappers surfaced, brandishing guns and other dangerous objects.

“They kidnapped the wife in the process. That was around 10.00 pm last night,” he said.

When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer in the state command, Adewale Osifeso, promised to get back to our correspondent on the matter.
