Some gunmen have killed at least 10 persons in the Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Wase Local Government Area, a federal constituency, is being represented by Idris Wase, who is the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

It was gathered that the victims were killed when the bandits attacked Pinau community in the Council Area on Sunday.

The incident, it was gathered, happened shortly after the villagers closed from their local market in the area.

A youth leader in the community, Nantip Padur, who confirmed the killings, said several persons also sustained injuries during the attack.

The youth leader said “I can confirm to you that 10 of our people have been killed after some bandits attacked Pinau village and critically injured many others.

“The incident happened during the market day on Sunday.

“Before the Sunday attack, the bandits who came into Wase from Zamfara State had attacked Sapiyo town kidnapping a nursing housewife and a prominent politician in Wase.

From what is happening, it is obvious that our people are now exposed to great security threats and challenges which demand urgent attention.”

The lawmaker representing Wase State Constituency, Yakubu Adamu, when contacted did not respond to several calls put across to his mobile phone.

The state Police Police Command has yet to make public statement on the incident.
