A newlywed bride was abducted on her way to her matrimonial home in Niger State.

Bandits struck when the victim’s family members were taking her from Allawa Community in Shiroro Local Government of the state to her matrimonial home in Pandogari town, Rafi Local Government Area.

The attackers, in a large number, were said to have ambushed them on their way, taking away the bride and other occupants in a truck conveying them.

Jibrin Abdullahi Allawa, President, Lakpma Youth Assembly, said the incident happened on Friday.

According to a source, the bandits, who also rustled a large number of cattle, launched an attack on Gyaramiya community, still in Shiroro, whisking away some residents.

The development occurred few days after Niger State government announced success against criminals.

Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, could not be reached on phone.

This is not the first time that brides would be targeted in attacks by bandits.

Last week, two newlywed brides were abducted in Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State.
