The women’s wing of the All Progressives Congress, Lagos State chapter, on Monday, staged a solidarity walk for the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima.

The rally was also organised to mobilise support for the second-term bid of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.

The rally, which was held at Onikan Stadium and spanned Lagos Island, was attended by wife of the state governor, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; wife of the deputy governor, Oluremi Hamzat; the state APC chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi; former state deputy governor, Oluranti Adebule; and the state APC women leader, Jumoke Okoya-Thomas.

In his remarks, Sanwo-Olu said, “Take the message home that the APC in Lagos State is a party of choice and this is just a sample. You have shown that women have the votes and you run the show. Our presidential candidate, Tinubu, and his vice, Shettima, are very appreciative of what you have done today.

“I congratulate the women leader, Jumoke Okoya-Thomas for putting this up.”

“This has shown that women are at the forefront of the campaign. This is something you have done on your own and this has shown that women are the voters.”

Hamzat, in his speech, debunked the claim that Tinubu was ailing.

He said, “They lied that Tinubu is dead but he is not dead; he is hale and hearty. I spoke with him this morning.

“Tinubu is steady, stable, and ready and we are moving straight to Abuja because it is the turn of Asiwaju. He knows the path and he has proven that with his achievements in Lagos State when he was governor. We want a better Nigeria that is why it is his turn.”

“Let us get our Permanent Voter Cards intact and for those that are yet to collect their PVCs, go and collect them at the Independent National Electoral Commission office to be able to vote on Election Day.”
