Yusuf, a man in Northern Nigeria, has been ordered by a Magistrate Court in Kano State to eliminate his cockerel on or before Friday due to noise pollution.

This order was issued by the Chief Magistrate, Halima Wali, on Tuesday, following a complaint by Yusuf's neighbour about the constant crowing of the cockerel causing sleep deprivation.

The court deemed the domestic bird to be a nuisance to the community and instructed Yusuf to comply with the order to kill the cockerel by Friday or face a penalty from the court. It is worth noting that rearing livestock and poultry in homes across Nigeria is lawful.
