National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced the total cost of the 2023 Hajj pilgrimage.

According to NAHCON Chairman, Zikirullah Kunle Hassan, Nigerian intending pilgrims will pay slightly less than three million Naira for a seat on the Hajj. The announcement indicated that pilgrims from Yola and Maiduguri will pay N2,800,000 while those from other northern states will pay N2,919,000.

The southern states will have varying costs, with Edo pilgrims paying N2,968,000, Ekiti and Ondo pilgrims paying N2,800,000, Cross River pilgrims paying N2,943,000, Osun pilgrims paying N2,983,000, and Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo pilgrims paying N2,999,000. Pilgrims from the Southsouth and Southeast states will pay N2,968,000. Hassan explained that the discrepancy in costs is due to varying airfare costs because of location proximity to Saudi Arabia.

In addition, the commission has closed the portal for registration of those paying through the Hajj Savings Scheme. Hassan stated that all intending pilgrims must complete their Hajj fare payments by April 21.
