The UK Supreme Court on Friday allowed a group of 42,500 Nigerian farmers and fishermen to sue Royal Dutch Shell (RDS) in English courts after years of oil spills in the Niger Delta contaminated land and groundwater. Avian Influenza, a highly contagious viral infection of birds, has resurfaced in Nigeria, Director of Veterinary and Pest Control Services in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Abuja, Olaniran Alabi, has revealed. Naira fell on Monday and bid-ask spreads widened as the local spot currency market struggled with a scarcity of U.S. dollars, traders said.
