Hameed Ali and the ‘derailed change agenda’ - Kayode Samuel

Obviously flush from his uniform squabbles with the Senate, Customs boss Hameed Ali has now taken up the job of rescuing whatever remains of the legacy of the Change campaign. It is a most commendable venture.

But I feel he will be expending too many bullets on the wrong enemy if he continues to argue that the problems of this administration are caused by PDP infiltration.

In the first place, there'd be no administration to speak of if PDP elements had not hopped on the Change bandwagon. Trying to get them to disembark having used them to push the vehicle to start will create unpleasant situations - including a wrestle for the steering wheel that might run the vehicle into a ditch.

While it may be true that the two houses of Parliament are led by PDP elements, that is due more to political naïveté on the part of APC leadership than to any hostile intentions of PDP. Plus, none of the elements now at the heart of the Executive branch of this administration came from PDP - or from any party for that matter. They just happen to be the ones that Buhari is comfortable with.

Which leads us to the crux of the whole matter. President Buhari has neither the breadth of vision nor the temperament to oversee a country as complex as ours. His choosing to align with people with a similar blinkered vision who have now derailed the Change movement is traceable to his mindset issues.

How anyone truly interested in rescuing the movement navigates round this very sensitive area I leave in the very capable hands of Mr Hameed Ali and his confederates in the BSO...
