As Nigeria raised the alert level against the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Presidential Villa in Abuja commenced careening of staff and visitors on Tuesday.

Besides the hand sanitizer being applied to all who must pass through the security screening point at the entrance into the main offices building, health workers were seen at the corner carrying out screening with temperature screening device.

It is believed that the exercise is being conducted to protect President Muhammadu Buhari and his household from the highly infectious virus which has killed prominent ruling members of Iranian government.

It would be recalled that the first case of the COVID-19 was recorded in Nigeria over the last weekend when an Italian tested positive to the viral pandemic in Lagos.

However, the country is now on full alert, taking every necessary measure to avert a possible spread of the disease.

All entry points such as major airports in Abuja, Lagos, Kano and Port Harcourt had been put on full alert to look out for those with symptoms of illness on arrivals.
