Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, has appointed Mr Mohammed Aliyu as the new secretary to the state government (SSG).

The development comes hours after Mr Aliyu Ahmed-Tijani, the former SSG, was sacked by the governor.

The governor’s spokesman, Mr Yakubu Lamai announced the appointment in a statement, stating that the appointment takes effect immediately.

According to the statement, Aliyu served as a former executive chairman of Lafia local government council from 1999 to 2002, and has also worked as partner at various law firms.

His most recent position before his appointment as SSG was as a partner at Atafi Chambers, a position he held since 2005.
