Lagos lawmaker dies at 60

Lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency II in Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Tunde Buraimoh, is dead.

He died around 4 am on Friday, at the age of 60.

It was learnt that Buraimoh, who was the Assembly’s spokesperson, had been absent from the Assembly’s Complex for two weeks.

Close sources to the lawmaker said he died of an undisclosed illness.

The lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 1 in the Lagos Assembly, Mr Sanni Okanlawon, confirmed Buraimoh’s death.

When contacted, Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Lagos State, Mr Tunde Balogun, said, “It is very sad. It is a great loss to us as a party, his family, Lagos State, and Nigeria as a whole. He was a very eloquent member and a great asset. We lost him at a point when men of his calibre are needed.

The lawmaker representing Ojo Constituency I, Mr Victor Akande, also confirmed his demise.

He said, “It is true that we lost Tunde Braimoh, I could not sleep since 1 am when I learnt about his demise, he was one of those who never toyed with his health.”

The late lawmaker was Chairman of Kosofe Local Government between 1999 and 2002.

Born September 30, 1960, Buraimoh attended Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye where he studied law and graduated in 1988.

He was reelected for a second term as lawmaker in 2019.
