Forex receipts from oil exports have fallen from $3bn monthly to zero - CBN

Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) says the country’s external reserves no longer come from selling crude oil. Godwin Emefiele disclosed this at the 57th annual bankers’ lecture organised by the Chartered Institute of bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in Lagos on Saturday. FG postpones resumption of Abuja-Kaduna rail services

Federal Government through the Ministry of Transportation has announced an extension of the resumption date for the Abuja-Kaduna rail services. Majority awaiting trial, many on death row: Here are the demographics of 75,000+ inmates in Nigerian prisons

The number of inmates in the various custodial centres across the country rose by 18,805 between 2015 and 2022, a document by the Ministry of Interior has shown. The report titled, ‘A documentation of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration scorecard (2015–2023)’, shows that in 2015, there were 56,704 inmates, but so far in 2022, the figure has increased to 75,509. The report states that out of this figure, 52,710 inmates, representing 69.8 per cent, were awaiting trial. The figure comprised 51,481 males and 1,229 females. Nigeria’s Q3 GDP eases to 2.25 percent on low oil production - NBS

Nigeria’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 2.25 percent year-on-year in Q3 2022, down from 3.54 percent in Q2. National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said this in its latest GDP report for the third quarter of 2022. The slow growth was due to the country’s low oil production, as output slumped to 1.20 million barrels per day.
