And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church ~ Ephesians 1:22.

Introduction:

We have repeatedly affirmed that Jesus Christ is uniquely supreme in all respects. He is the Lord who defies every adjective that attempts to qualify Him. Yes, He was not the first to answer that name, Jesus, but He is the One that brought to it a most sacred honor. Certainly, it is our wisdom to be kept absolutely under the lordship of Jesus Christ.

Behind all perplexities, dissensions, stagnation and confusion is Satan. He masterminds all vices, antics and great wickedness on earth. All the ills and woes we see today and, indeed, all the sufferings and tragedies of human experiences, including the corruption and the skewed errors in our civil polities, wholly originate from Satan and his malevolent powers of darkness.

However, on the authority of Jesus Christ, these must be displaced, for to leave the devil unchallenged is to rob Jesus Christ of His Calvary’s triumph.

Jesus Christ came to restore God’s control over that which Satan stole on earth. In His earthly ministry, He exercised complete lordship over Satan, diseases, poverty, natural disasters and even over death.

Christ is Head over all principalities, powers, might and dominion, and over every name that is named, both in this world and in the world to come. He is enthroned at God’s right hand, and He rules majestically over all things, including all the hordes of hell.

With His words, Jesus Christ announced the kingdom, and by His works He demonstrated what the kingdom is like. Now as ever, both are greatly desired, and must be promoted very vigorously as the approved lifestyle of God’s Kingdom till today!

Our Redemptive Rights in Christ Jesus

God has committed to every believer the responsibility of dethroning the devil, and He adequately bestowed upon us the power of attorney to carry out this duty. He truly invested us with power for our assignment on the grounds of Calvary’s victory (Matthew 18:18-20). What is left for us is to learn how to insist on the victory of the Cross of Christ.

Through His death, Christ rendered the devil powerless. Satan can no longer withstand the believer who, by faith and obedience, exercises his authority in Christ to displace demons anywhere they’re found (1Peter 5:8-9; James 4:7).

Recently, a very young boy became ill with some sort of strange urinary tract infections. Though the mother of the child was a sound believer in Christ, but the father at that time was rather a carefree unbelieving medical doctor.

Various prescription drugs were administered, but, somehow, none of them worked and the child was getting increasingly restless. According to the public testimony, which he gave later, the father rather chose to consult his professors instead of calling for God’s intervention.

At that time, the child had not been able to pass urine for five days. Hence the mother, so worried, decided to bring the child for prayers in the Church. And, after offering a short prayer and anointing the child, we proclaimed in faith that the Lord Jesus Christ would be glorified in that situation that day.

Initially, nothing unusual was apparent. However, on getting home, the spectacular happened. The father, a medical doctor, who was really fuming with rage that the mother took his child to the Church without his prior consent, lifted up the child in his hand and was thinking of what next to do. There and then, the grace of God swung into action!

Guess what? The baby, who had been unable to urinate for days, pissed forcefully and directly into the father’s mouth. It was as if the Lord was saying: doctor, taste and see whether this is urine or not. Jesus Christ is Lord indeed! Alleluia!!

Enforcing the Lordship of Jesus Christ

Of a truth, once in a while, stubborn situations do rear up their ugly heads on the paths of destiny. In these last days in particular, the powers of darkness, conscious of their impending overthrow, are fiercely resisting on all fronts. Albeit, when we resist them with the power of the Lordship of Jesus Christ, they become so very much helpless.

However, it is absolutely essential that those nursing the Bible dream of enforcing the lordship of Jesus Christ in order to advance God’s Kingdom on earth today must, in all humility, take their seats first in the heavenly places in Christ, far above all principalities and powers, through faith in Christ Jesus.

The believer has been raised up and is seated together in heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 2:5-7). We have been elevated with Him to the right hand of God and, thus, seated together with Him on the throne. And, in the heart and purposes of God, this elevation took place at the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

To be victorious, therefore, in enforcing the lordship of Jesus Christ over desperate satanic forces and fearlessly binding forces of darkness, it is imperative that we locate our place of spiritual authority in Christ. We must find our true identities in Christ before we can ever hope to effectively participate in enforcing His lordship upon the earth.

Furthermore, we must keep in mind that the only language the devil honors is that of authoritative force. Faith, courage and determination must arise in our hearts to bind his hostile forces wherever they are found. We must insist that every barrier to Christian benevolence give way.

Again, quite often, in order to completely break Satan’s power, we need to appeal for God’s Sure Mercies on the grounds of Calvary, calling down God’s judgment upon the adversary in our exercise of the Lordship of Jesus Christ (Luke 18:7-8). Anyhow, we must always exercise our believers’ authority only in union with Christ.

In conclusion, please remember that God has already committed unto us the power to resist the devil: ‘neither give place to the devil’ (Ephesians 4:27). Hence, it should be our exciting duty to daily displace Satan and his despotic control everywhere we go. And, our battle cry should be: “the prince of this world is now cast down” (Revelation 12:10). That is the nature and call of the Christian duty. Yes indeed, Jesus Christ is Lord! Happy Sunday!!
