President Muhammadu Buhari, has written to the Senate, requesting for the screening and confirmation of nine Resident Electoral Commissioners appointed for Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The letter was read to Senators yesterday by Senate President Bukola Saraki during plenary.

The nominees are Mr Monday Udo Tom- Akwa Ibom; Mr Eric Olawale -Osun; Mr Segun Agbaje- Ekiti, and Siro Omorogbe- Edo.

Others are Yahaya Bello- Nassarawa; Emmanuel Alex- Rivers; Mohammed Mogaji Ibrahim-Gombe; Baba Abba Yusuf- Borno, and Lukman Abdulrahman Ajibade- Kwara.

The Senate had on November 23 rejected Ahmed Bello Mahmud as nominee for the position of Resident Electoral Commissioner representing Zamfara State.

Meanwhile, Mr Buhari, yesterday swore in the remaining seven permanent Secretaries out of the 22 appointed earlier in the year.

The inauguration preceded the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting and had cabinet members and serving permanent secretaries as well as some guests of the new officials in attendance.

The President did not deliver any inauguration address after the signing of the inauguration register as FEC meeting progressed afterwards.

Those sworn in are: Mr Mustapha Suleiman (Kano); Mr Adekunle Adeyemi (Oyo); Mrs Comfort Ekaro (Rivers) Mr Adebayo Akpata (Ekiti).
Others are Mr Abdulkadir Muazu (Kaduna); Mr Marcelinus Osuji (Imo) and Mr Bitrus Nabasu (Plateau).

It would be recalled that 15 of the newly appointed permanent Secretaries took their oath of office in August.
