House of Representatives has urged Federal Government to put a halt to alleged entry of herdsmen from other African countries into Nigeria. This was sequel to a unanimous adoption of a motion by Mr Ndudi Elumelu (PDP-Delta), at plenary on Tuesday. Moving the motion earlier, Elumelu said that in recent years, herdsmen had been on rampage, destroying farm lands, burning villages and killing innocent Nigerians indiscriminately in many states across the federation. Elumelu said that Nigerian security agents had consistently stated that those herdsmen were not Nigerians but migrants from other neighboring countries. He said that those herdsmen who were…

He was admitted to hospital on Saturday after feeling unwell, his condition improved but on Monday he had a cardiac arrest and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, officials say. “Mr President, we beg you - please, please set us free!" These are not the words of people held in detention or mandatory quarantine after being roughed up by Kenyan police for not wearing face masks. Instead, it is the cry of many Kenyans who cannot stand the lockdown measures anymore. Before President Uhuru Kenyatta addressed the nation on Saturday, social media had been awash with memes, pleas and videos urging him to ease the lockdown measures. One of the most widely shared clips was a video in Swahili compiled by comedian Mtume Orroson showing him in conversation with the…
As tensions remain high between Iran and the U.S., the Islamic Republic appears to have constructed a new mock-up of an aircraft carrier off its southern coast for potential live-fire drills. The faux foe, seen in satellite photographs obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press, resembles the Nimitz-class carriers that the U.S. Navy routinely sails into the Persian Gulf from the Strait of Hormuz, its narrow mouth where 20% of all the world’s oil passes through. While not yet acknowledged by Iranian officials, the replica’s appearance in the port city of Bandar Abbas suggests Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard is preparing an…
