AfDB approves $288.5m loan for Nigeria

Board of directors of African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a $288.5 million loan to help Nigeria tackle the Covid-19 pandemic. In a statement on Saturday, the bank said the loan would support government’s plans to improve surveillance and response to Covid-19 emergencies, ease the impact on workers and businesses, as well as strengthen the social protection system. Nigeria’s foreign reserve has increased to $36.57 billion as of May 5, the latest figures by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revealed.
