Govs, NNPC top officials in crucial meeting after aborted FAAC meeting

Governors of the 36 states of the federation, or their representatives, were on Wednesday locked in a crucial meeting with Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) top management to attempt to patch up the crisis that aborted Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting for March. Earlier in the day, Chairman, Finance Commissioners Forum of FAAC, Mr Yunusa Mahmoud, told reporters the meeting of the committee scheduled to share the revenue for March had been cancelled. Mahmood, who is also Nasarawa State Commissioner for Finance, said the cancellation of the meeting followed some “challenges” linked to poor revenue returns remitted by NNPC.…

FG approves search for herbal cure for malaria

Federal Government has approved that a department of traditional medicine be established in Ministry of Health to look for malaria cure in the forests. Minister of Health, Mr Isaac Adewole, disclosed this to State House reporters on Wednesday after the cabinet meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari. Nigeria's army says it wants to turn the Sambisa forest into a tourist destination. The plan, however, has a catch: the area is home to a vicious insurgency. Protests in Benue as herdsmen kill two Catholic priests, school principal, 16 others inside church

Armed Fulani herdsmen unleashed terror on Ayar Mbalom community in the Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State on Tuesday, killing 19 persons, including two Rev. Fathers. Ibadan varsity expels 408 students

Funmi Olaitan, Ibadan Senate of University of Ibadan has asked no fewer than 408 students of the university to withdraw from the school for failure to meet the minimum academic requirements to stay in the university. The body ratified the withdrawal at its meeting where results of graduating and non-graduating students were considered and approved.
