Buhari greets Christians, vows to ‘annihilate’ those against unity of Nigeria

Buhari paid Boko Haram N12.6m for release of each Chibok girl - Report

The Federal Government paid €3m (N1.3 billion) for the release of some Chibok schoolgirls who were in Boko Haram custody, according to Wall Street Journal. In 2014, Boko Haram insurgents kidnapped 276 girls from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok in Borno state. Of the 276, 163 are now free: 57 fled in the early days after their abduction, three escaped later, and a Swiss-coached mediation secured 103. Many feared dead in Philippines mall fire

At least 25 people are feared dead in a fire that ravaged a shopping mall in the southern Philippine city of Davao, local officials say. Firefighters battled for hours to extinguish the blaze that started on Saturday morning on the third floor and spread to the floor above, trapping employees of a call centre. Bus plunges from bridge killing 33

A bus with 50 people on board has plunged from a bridge in northern India, killing 33, police say. The vehicle - reports say driven by a 16-year-old - lost control and broke through a railing before falling 30m (100 ft) into the Banas river. UN Security Council imposes new sanctions on North Korea

Okorocha declares 18 days Christmas break for Imo workers

Imo state Governor, Mr Rochas Okorocha has declared 18 days Christmas holidays for Imo workers “to enable them have a wonderful celebration of the yuletide with their loved ones”. Truck hits aircraft at Lagos airport

Truck operated by one of the ground handling companies yesterday hit and damaged an aircraft belonging to Air Peace at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, disrupting some of its flights. Nasarawa govt freezes accounts of MDAs

Nasarawa State Government has frozen the accounts of all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) over non-compliance with its directive. The state’s Accountant-General, Mr Zakka Yakubu, disclosed this to journalists in Lafia on Thursday. Yakubu explained that the suspension of all financial transactions was due to failure of the MDAs to comply with an earlier circular directing them to submit their account balances and other financial documents. Buhari presided over longest FEC meeting: Here are decisions taken

The longest meeting of Federal Executive Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday approved a number of memos submitted by cabinet members. Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, who was part of the team of four ministers who briefed State House correspondents at the end of the meeting, said the council approved the completion of the Police Service Commission headquarters in Abuja.
