The Federal Government paid €3m (N1.3 billion) for the release of some Chibok schoolgirls who were in Boko Haram custody, according to Wall Street Journal. In 2014, Boko Haram insurgents kidnapped 276 girls from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok in Borno state. Many feared dead in Philippines mall fire

At least 25 people are feared dead in a fire that ravaged a shopping mall in the southern Philippine city of Davao, local officials say. Firefighters battled for hours to extinguish the blaze that started on Saturday morning on the third floor and spread to the floor above, trapping employees of a call centre. Bus plunges from bridge killing 33

A bus with 50 people on board has plunged from a bridge in northern India, killing 33, police say. The vehicle - reports say driven by a 16-year-old - lost control and broke through a railing before falling 30m (100 ft) into the Banas river.
