The Federal Government has released N243.79 billion as the second tranche of Paris Club Refund to the 36 state governments and Federal Capital Territory. Another round of crisis which erupted between farmers and herders in Kaduna State has left 37 persons dead with several others injured in the last two days. The incident occurred in Kajuru Local Government Area, about 50 kilometres from Kaduna, the state capital. CAC workers on strike over salary arrears

Staff union of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Abuja on Tuesday shut down business activities at the commission’s headquarters as members began warning strike over alleged non-payment of salary arrears. Chairman of the staff union, Mr Ibrahim Kirfi, alleged that management of CAC defaulted in the payment of salary arrears. Kirifi said that that the strike was due to non-implementation of salary arrears agreement on huge disparity between the executive and non-executive staff. Lagos Assembly member dead

A member of Lagos State House of Assembly, Kazeem Ademola Alimi, is dead. The lawmaker, who represented Eti Osa Constituency I, died after a brief illness yesterday, two weeks after his 50th birthday. A statement by Musbau Razak, Chief Press Secretary to Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, said the late lawmaker died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, says he feels annoyed when he sees people in public office celebrating. States get another Paris Club refund

States have received another tranche of the Paris Club refund, it was learnt yesterday. Ekiti, which got N9.5 billion in the first tranche, has received another N4.772 billion; Abia got N5.715 billion. The state received N11.4 billion in the first tranche. West African Examination Council says the performance of candidates in its 2017 May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination is an improvement over the ones recorded in the recent past. The council’s Head of National Office, Mr. Olu Adenipekun, said this in Lagos on Monday, at a news conference to announce results of the May/June diet of the examination. Somalia has restored its internet connection after repairing a severed undersea cable, a telecoms official said on Monday, after an outage that the government said had cost the economy millions of dollars a day.
