Speaker of House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, has reshuffled chairpersons of some of the House committees.

In an announcement on Wednesday, he named Mr Abdulmumin Jibrin, former appropriations committee chairman, to head committee on Land Transport.

Jibrin, a former ally of the speaker later fell out with him. He was suspended for over one year from the House for accusing the Dogara leadership of manipulating 2016 budget.

Apart from Jibrin, the speaker named Mr Orker Jev as new chairman of committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT), a committee that used to be headed by sacked lawmaker, Herman Hembe. Both men are from Benue State.

Before his new appointment, Mr Jev was chairman of House committee on Rules and Business which Edward Pwajok now chairs.

Also appointed as chairpersons are Mr Muntari Dandutse, FCT Judiciary; Mr Sadiq Abubakar, Human Rights; Mr Mahmood Mohammed, housing; and Mr Tajudeen Abbas, Solid Minerals.

Others are Mr Haliru Jika, Privatisation and Commercialisation; Mr Yarima Ahmed, Constituency Outreach; Mr Lawal Garba, Police and Mr Aminu Sani, Population.

The three deputy chairpersons appointed are Mr Ayo Joseph, Special Duties; Mr Tope Olayenu, Army and Mr Ayo Omidiran, FCT Judiciary.
