Police have rescued Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Musa Rabo, who was abducted along Barde-Jos road by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Saturday.

Rabo was rescued unhurt on Sunday by a combined team of police operatives from Kaduna, Niger and Zone  7 Headquarters, Abuja, backed by members of the elite police special forces.

Force spokesman, Mr Frank Mba, said two male suspects were arrested in connection with the incident, adding that investigation was ongoing.

Rabo, who is Suleja Area Commander in Niger State, was kidnapped while traveling alone in his car in mufti.

His abductors were said to have demanded N50million ransom.

Mba had described Rabo’s abduction as an opportunistic crime.

He said, “Rabo was traveling in his civil dress in his private car and without escort or any security at the time of the incident. He was not targeted as a cop, it was purely an opportunistic crime maliciously targeted at citizens using that particular road.”
