Gunmen attack Kaduna community, kill six, injure several others

Suspected gunmen have killed a seven-year-old boy and five other persons at Kidandan village in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

It was gathered that 20 other residents of the village sustained gunshot injuries during the attack on Friday, about 11am, and Saturday.

Confirming the incident, secretary of Kidandan Youth Development Association, Mr Jamilu Kidandan, said many villagers were missing.

He also said many people abandoned their houses on Saturday when an Air Force plane came to their rescue.

“The bandits attacked our community around 11am on Friday and left after killing four people. They returned again today (Saturday) and killed two more persons, including a seven-year-old boy,’’ he said.

The youth leader also gave names of three persons among those killed as Auwalu, Ibrahim and Danyaro.

He added that about 20 persons who sustained gunshot wounds were rushed to Shika Teaching Hospital and Shafi’iya Hospital in Zaria.

Confirming the attack, police public relations officer, Kaduna State command, Mr Mohammed Jalige, said three police APC carriers and personnel had been moved to the area.
