A younger brother of Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, has been kidnapped by gunmen.

Although the incident happened on Monday, the kidnappers had yet to make contact with the family.

A family source said, “It happened in Aruogba area, Irhiri around 7am when he was driving his children to school. The children were left by the gunmen.

“It is believed that the kidnappers came through the Ogba River because people who witnessed the incident said they went through the bush that leads to the riverside. Security agencies have been informed and they are doing everything possible to ensure that he is released unhurt.”

Edo State Commissioner of Police, Babatunde Kokumo, said he was not aware of the case wondering how reporters got wind of the situation.

“There is nothing I can tell you for now,” the CP added.
