Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Emmanuel Bako, Kaduna state chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and Sandra Bako, his wife.

The gunmen were said to have kidnapped the cleric at Albarka camp, Fadan Kagoma, near Kafanchan in Jema’a local government area on Friday.

Mohammed Jalige, police public relations officer (PPRO) in the state, who confirmed the incident said effort was on to rescue the victims unhurt.

“They were kidnapped yesterday, 8pm in the evening alongside his wife Sandra Bako and one other person, Douglas,” he said.

“The hoodlums met them at prayer camp, somewhere in the bush; they went for prayers. They were not the only people in that place, at the prayer camp. They were a lot of people. So with quick intervention of the police the other people were rescued back to Kafanchan.

“It was only the three people that were kidnapped and we are seriously on it trying to see how to rescue the kidnap victims unhurt and possibly to arrest the perpetrators of the crime.”

Reacting, Lawrence Ekwok, PFN chairman in Cross River state, described the incident as terrible, saying the cleric must be rescued unhurt in other not to “incur the wrath of God”.

“A situation, where preachers of the gospel of Jesus Christ, have  become the target of kidnappers seeking for blood money to the extent of kidnapping a minister on a day recognised worldwide as a day of peace and joy must stop”, he said.

“Bako must be released immediately along with his wife and others unhurt for the kidnappers not to incur the wrath of the Almighty God. The security situation in the country today is terrible, and no effort should be spared in setting the minister of God and others in captivity free immediately.”
