Man dies, leaves behind 38 widows

An Indian man believed to be the head of the world’s largest family has died leaving behind roughly 38 wives, 89 children and 33 grandchildren. Ziona Chana would often forget how many wives and children he had after becoming a household name in the state of Mizoram. His four-storey home in Baktawng village had been a tourist attraction for years. He died in hospital from age-related health complications at 76. Chana belonged to a sect created by his grandfather which allowed polygamy for men. He married his first wife, Zathiangi, when he was 17. She still runs the show as…
In what can probably described as the weirdest wedding ceremony of 2021, so far, an Indian man ended up marrying the bride’s sister, after his betrothed succumbed to a heart attack during the wedding. The bizarre incident took place last week, in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district. The young bride, Surabhi, suddenly fell unconscious right next to the groom, Manjesh Kumar, right before the ‘pheras’ ceremony, an important ritual in Hindu weddings. The woman reportedly said that she felt unwell and then collapsed. An ambulance was called, but all paramedics could do was confirm the young woman’s death. One would assume…
Utah police in the United States said they got "quite a surprise" when they found a nine-year-old girl driving a car with her four-year-old sister in the passenger seat early on Wednesday morning. The sisters told officers they were heading to California because they wanted to "swim in the ocean". They drove on two major roads, hit another car and then crashed head-on into a lorry, police said on Twitter. The sisters were both wearing their seatbelts and were not hurt. Utah's West Valley City Police Department said the girls woke up at about 3am on Wednesday, and took the…
Multiple reports suggest Boris Johnson is experiencing serious money problems. They claim that his recent divorce, multiple children, and reduced income have left him severely hard up. The reports come amid other claims that he has sought to use donors to pay for his living costs. Yet those who know Johnson well believe there is a much simpler explanation for him claiming hardship. Boris Johnson has told friends that he is experiencing serious money problems. Multiple reports suggest that the UK Prime Minister's financial situation has led to him attempting, and in some cases succeeding, to use donations from the…
A bride in India recently married a wedding guest after the groom disappeared from the wedding venue. The Khaleej Times reports that everyone was getting ready for the wedding ceremony, when all of a sudden the groom was nowhere to be found. Families from both sides began an extensive search for the groom while the bride was visibly upset. It turns out that the groom did not mysteriously disappear; he had actually planned to run from the wedding, and not get married. Someone at the wedding suggested that the bride should find another suitable man to be the groom, and…
A herd of 18 wild elephants have been found dead in Nagaon, in the north-east Indian state of Assam. State officials say that the elephants were killed when lightning struck the Kandoli protected forest reserve. Villagers nearby alerted the authorities after finding the carcasses of the animals in the forest. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said he was concerned about such a "huge number of elephants" dying, and that an investigation had been ordered. There are more than 27,000 Asian elephants in India, about 21% of which are in Assam. This is the first time in 20 years in…
"I'm very experimental with my style," says Nigerian model and artist Uche Uba. "Makeup for me is, to an extent, an act of defiance. You cannot tell me what I can or cannot do to my face." In Nigeria, significant parts of queer existence — including sex between people of the same gender, advocating for queer rights, and even associating with queer people — can be criminalized. If prosecuted and found guilty, people can be sentenced up to 14 years in prison and, under Sharia law in northern Nigeria, it can result in death by stoning. In response, some members…
Patrons at a restaurant in Taipei, were recently shocked to see cockroaches crawling all over the place after thousands of them were released on the premises by two masked men. On May 4th, two masked men entered the G House Taipei restaurant holding large bags filled with over 1,000 cockroaches, which they simply released at the reception desk on the second floor of the establishment, before fleeing the scene. Roaches started crawling on the floor, walls and furniture, and it wasn’t long before patrons enjoying their meals there started noticing them as well. Among the diners were policemen Taipei Police…

Woman gives birth to nine babies

A Malian woman gave birth to nine babies on Tuesday - two more than doctors had detected inside her crowded womb - joining a small pantheon of mothers of nonuplets. The pregnancy of Halima Cisse, 25, has fascinated the West African nation and attracted the attention of its leaders. When doctors in March said Cisse needed specialist care, authorities flew her to Morocco, where she gave birth. “The newborns (five girls and four boys) and the mother are all doing well,” Mali’s health minister, Fanta Siby, said in a statement. Cisse was expected to give birth to seven babies, according…
Identical twins Anna and Lucy are the first to admit they're "over-the-top extreme" when it comes to spending every single minute of their lives together.
