Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Wednesday said his administration’s plan to carry out a total reconstruction of the International Airport Road from Oshodi was being frustrated by the Federal Ministry of Works. The current Minister of Works is Babatunde Fashola, Mr. Ambode’s predecessor as Lagos governor. Comptroller-General of Customs, Retired Col. Hameed Ali, has approved placement of 60 per cent rebate across board on vehicles brought into the country from 2015 downward. The customs chief approved the adjustment of points of payment of duty on old vehicles to ease the process. Acting Public Relations Officer of the service, Mr Joseph Attah, announced the grace period for auto duty payment on Wednesday in Abuja. Kaduna International Airport yesterday sprang to life as unprecedented number of commercial flights landed and took off on the first day of flight diversion from Abuja. Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was shut down midnight Tuesday for major repairs that will last six weeks. It took the federal government over two months to raise the level of facilities at the Kaduna airport in order to take over Abuja’s responsibilities.
