Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu, has appointed new police commissioners for Bayelsa, Cross River, Ekiti and Ogun states. Benue State Security Council has approved recruitment of 2,300 persons for community policing and 460 as community volunteer guards, also known as vigilante, to complement efforts of conventional security agencies. Colombian army said nine soldiers were killed and six wounded after a military helicopter went down Tuesday in the country's southeast during an operation against guerrillas. The Black Hawk helicopter went down with 17 people aboard on a stretch of the Inirida River, in the country's southeastern Guaviare jungle region. South Korean epidemiologists have found that people were more likely to contract the new coronavirus from members of their own households than from contacts outside the home. A study published in the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on July 16 looked in detail at 5,706 "index patients" who had tested positive for coronavirus and more than 59,000 people who came into contact with them. Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is to establish an Infrastructure Development Company, its governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, disclosed on Monday in Abuja.
