Five-year-old caught driving parents' car

Some toddlers spill milk in the kitchen or give their parents a headache by pulling the cat's tail. Five-year-old Adrian took the family car, and was only caught when police in Utah state stopped him on the freeway. A patrolman spotted the SUV weaving across lanes at 30mph (50km/h), and issued a traffic stop, duly obeyed by the driver. He was shocked to discover the child behind the wheel, who said he was on his way to buy a Lamborghini. The boy told police that he had left home after his mother refused to buy him the luxury vehicle -…
Turns out we’re not the only ones to practise social distancing when we’re sick – vampire bats do it too. While the term ‘social distancing’ is relatively new to us humans (but now permanently ingrained into our brains), it seems that vampire bats were probably doing it way before we did. Researchers at the University of Texas studied the animal’s social behaviours, and how this was affected when the bats became ill. Like us, they’re very sociable creatures and rely heavily on interacting with each other to survive, however they will distance themselves from other healthy individuals if they become…

A top emergency room doctor battling on the frontlines of the coronavirus outbreak in New York City died by suicide over the weekend, her family members have revealed. Ms Lorna M. Breen, the medical director of the emergency department at NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital, died in Charlottesville, Virginia on Sunday. In the days leading up to her death, the 48-year-old reportedly recounted to family members a series of traumatic scenes she'd witnessed working in the Manhattan hospital, including an onslaught of patients dying in front of her before they could even be removed from ambulances. Breen had recently contracted COVID-19 but…
Maatje Benassi, a US Army reservist and mother of two, has become the target of conspiracy theorists who falsely place her at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, saying she brought the disease to China. The false claims are spreading across YouTube every day, so far racking up hundreds of thousands of apparent views, and have been embraced by Chinese Communist Party media. Despite never having tested positive for the coronavirus or experienced symptoms, Benassi and her husband are now subjects of discussion on Chinese social media about the outbreak, including among accounts that are known drivers of large-scale coordinated…
Six people were flogged for violating Islamic law in an arch-conservative province of today, in a ceremony which was scaled down because of the pandemic. The public canings in Aceh province sometimes attract large crowds of eager spectators taking pictures on their phones, but today's punishments were carried out indoors with just a handful of people there. One unmarried couple were punished after they were caught together in a hotel room, while another four were flogged 40 times each for drinking . Many of those watching were wearing masks, while the cane-wielding enforcer wears a hood in any case -…
Mika is worried. As a sex worker in Japan, she used to see three or four clients a day -- then the coronavirus pandemic hit. Now, with people staying home and avoiding close contact, she's out of clients and out of money. With no savings or other sources of income, Mika says she is living off borrowed money. She has tried to find other jobs, but nobody's hiring in the middle of an economic crisis. At this rate, she might not be able to pay rent or afford basic necessities, let alone pay off the debt she has recently taken…
A Bangladeshi woman has given birth to twins less than a month after delivering another child. Arifa Sultana, the 20-year-old mother, originally gave birth to a premature baby boy in February 2019, according to LadBible. But during the following month she was rushed to the hospital with pain in her stomach. That’s when doctors realized Sultana, to her surprise, was also pregnant with twins. They performed a C-section and delivered twins — a boy and a girl — just 26 days after Sultana had given birth the first time. “We were very shocked and surprised,” Sheila Poddar, who performed the…
The flamboyant governor of Kenya’s capital Nairobi has distributed bottles of cognac to the poor, saying it protects against the new coronavirus, though the drink maker and national government chided him for propagating a myth. Mike Mbuvi Sonko, known for his chunky gold jewellery, impromptu raps and arrest last year, posted images of Hennessey bottles tucked inside food packages with flour and other staples on social media this week. “We are giving some small bottles of Hennessey in the food packs that we are giving to our people,” Sonko said in a video, wearing a face mask and shield. “From…
A woman in Florida has been left disappointed after an ATM error showed she had millions in her bank account while she was withdrawing her stimulus money. Diana Lagulli described her shock when she withdrew $20 from an ATM in Wawa, Sanford, that her receipt said her balance was $8.5 million, FOX 35 first reported. A similar mistake occurred the previous day, when a PNC Bank ATM showed that she had $3.5 million in her account. "I thought it was an angel putting money into my account," Lagulli told Newsweek.
