Gunmen attack police station in Anambra

The police in Anambra state Southeast Nigeria, said they have killed one of the gunmen who attacked Ogidi Police Divisional Headquarters in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state. The incident happened at about 2:15 a.m. on Monday. Police spokesperson in the state, Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this in a statement, said the attack was foiled by police operatives on duty. Bandits operating in Niger State carried out a series of attacks last weekend, leading to the death of Mukhtar Sabiu, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Paiko, Headquarters of Paikoro Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State, and four other police officers. Gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday killed a 16-year-old boy when they attacked a police station and residential buildings inside the station in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
