Thirty-one persons have been killed by criminals in Ebonyi, Benue and Adamawa states. The killings took place between Monday and Tuesday, hours before President Muhammadu Buhari directed service chiefs to be proactive in addressing the security challenges. Redeemed Christian Church of God has declared prayers for the release of eight members of the church kidnapped in Kaduna on Friday. Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON) says 26 members have been arrested by security operatives, over alleged unlawful foreign exchange (FX) transactions. Aminu Gwadabe, president of ABCON, disclosed this in a statement on Friday. On Wednesday, the association’s north-west chapter had demanded immediate release of the members who were arrested on March 9, 2021, by the Department of State Security Services (DSS). A High Court in Akwa-Ibom State, on Thursday, sentenced a Nigerian professor, Peter Ogban, to three years in prison, for election fraud. The court, which found Ogban guilty of fraudulent manipulation of election results, publishing and announcing of false results, also asked the professor to pay N100,000 fine. Ogban, a professor of soil science, University of Calabar, and a returning officer in the 2019 general elections in Akwa Ibom North-West District, was charged for manipulating the election results of two local government areas – Oruk Anam and Etim Ekpo.
