Gunmen on Saturday kidnapped the Principal of Madonna Community Secondary School, Monday Ekoriko, in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Six people were killed on Thursday by suspected Fulani herders in a fresh attack in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State. Islamic militants have stormed a hotel in Somalia’s capital, engaging in an hours-long exchange of fire with the security forces that left at least 20 people dead, according to police and witnesses. Losses arising from cryptocurrency hacks jumped nearly 60% in the first seven months of the year to $1.9 billion, propelled by a surge in funds stolen from decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, according to a blog post from blockchain analysis firm Chainalysis released on Tuesday. A Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced a kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala, also known as Wadume, and two others, to seven years’ imprisonment. Binta Nyako convicted Wadume of two of the 13-count charges against him and two others.
