Nigeria Police Force (NPF) says Usman Baba, the inspector-general of police (IGP), was “not aware” of a previous court order on the reinstatement of a former police officer. On Tuesday, a federal high court in Abuja sentenced Baba to three months in prison for disobeying a court order directing the reinstatement of Patrick Okoli, a former officer who claimed he was unlawfully and compulsorily retired from the NPF. No fewer than six persons have been killed in Awka, Anambra State capital by suspected gunmen. The incident took place early hours of Saturday, along the popular Zik Avenue and its environs. More than 100 people, including women and children were abducted when gunmen raided four villages in Zamfara state on Sunday, the information commissioner and residents said on Monday. According to NAN, Felix Archibong, state’s chairman of NMA, confirmed the development on Saturday in Calabar, the Cross River capital.
