Bandits have killed at least 30 people, abducted several others, mostly women, in separate attacks Friday afternoon in Zamfara State. The attacked communities are Nasarawar Mai Fara in Tsafe local government area, Yar Katsina in Bungudu local government area and Nasarawa village in Bakura local government area. Zamfara, like many of the Nigerian Northwest states, is beleaguered by insecurity in the forms of kidnapping described as banditry. Gunmen kill 17 in Katsina communities

No fewer than 17 people have been killed by gunmen suspected to be terrorists in five communities in the Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State. It was learnt that the incident occurred on Thursday. According to residents, the gunmen swooped on the communities located in Karfi Ward in a coordinated attack which reportedly began on Wednesday night and extended to the following morning. Police in Oyo State have arrested no fewer than 12 suspects allegedly connected with cases of kidnapping at Onigari in Oluyole Local Government Area on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Okomu Oil Palm Company in Edo State has suspended its operations in the aftermath of an incident described by management as a “terrorist attack”. A worker in the company is said to have been killed by gunmen who invaded the company on Tuesday. “For now, we are forced to shut down our operations to save lives from possible reprisal. Kaduna State Government says the attack by gunmen on Zaman Dabo Village in the Atyap Chiefdom of Zango-Kataf Local Government Area of the State in the early hours of Sunday claimed 11 lives while over 30 houses were razed.
