Thirty eight (38) persons have been killed in an attack by bandits on several villages in Giwa LGA of Kaduna state. In a statement on Sunday, Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna commissioner for internal security and home affairs, said the attacks were reported to the state government by the military and police authorities. At least 12 persons have been reportedly killed following an attack by suspected fighters of Islamic State in West Africa (ISWAP) in Kilargar, Askira-Uba LGA of Borno state. According to military sources, the insurgents invaded the community on Sunday evening, while many residents ran into nearby bushes for refuge. Gunmen on Saturday attacked a police checkpoint at the Idemili-Obosi Interchange on the Onitsha-Owerri Road, Anambra State, killing two policemen and burning the cops’ patrol vehicle.
