Terrorists impose N40.7m ‘protection levy’ on Zamfara communities

Six months after sacking a military base in the area, bandits have collected at least N40.7 million as protection levy from residents of Mutumji communities in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Residents said they delivered N9.7 million to the bandits on February 4 as the last instalment of the levy collected from various peasant communities in Mutumji. Gunmen kill three police officers in Ebonyi

Gunmen have reportedly killed three police officers in Ebonyi State, Nigeria’s Southeast. The officers were gunned down on Monday night in front of a police station along the Enugu-Abakaliki highway, a source said. Abba Kyari, the suspended deputy commissioner of police (DCP), has been transferred to the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA). Gunmen attack police checkpoint, kill 3 officers in Enugu
