Medical doctors at Ondo Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) under the auspices of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners (NAGGMDP) have stopped attending to patients. Ondo IDH is where patients that tested positive for infectious disease like lassa fever and coronavirus are treated. State Secretary of NAGGMDP, Mr Tunde Olasakinju, who announced the doctors’ withdrawal of service in a statement, said it was due to failure of government to accede to their demands. Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed ten senior police officers and demotes eight others over various cases of misconduct in the line of duty. Recall that PSC had earlier approved promotion of 6,618 senior officers, including one Assistant Inspector General (AIG), four Commissioners and three Deputy Commissioners. PSC spokesperson, Mr Ikechukwu Ani, said the approval was one of the highpoints of the 8th Plenary meeting of the commission that ended on Wednesday, after three weeks of deliberations. A jet aircraft suspected of carrying illegal drugs has been destroyed by fire after landing on a highway in southern Mexico. A lorry packed with 390kg of cocaine was found nearby in the state of Quintana Roo, military officials said. The plane had been detected by the Mexican military as it entered Mexican airspace and was followed by military jets. Troops were dispatched to the landing site but there are no reports of arrests. Federal Government on Monday announced some lifelines for broadcast industry as ways of cushioning the effects of Covid-19 pandemic on the industry. Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, has announced appointment of Mr Temitayo Oluwatuyi “Tukana” as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG). The appointment follows resignation of Mr Ifedayo Abegunde from the position. Abegunde resigned his appointment on Monday. He confirmed the resignation in a telephone interview.
