Respect tenets of democracy, rights of Nigerians, group urges Buhari

A youth group, New Generation Leadership (NGL) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to obey the key tenets of democracy which include respect for the rule of law, judicial independence, due process, as well as political and media freedom. FAAC: FG, states, LG lose N104bn as revenue shrinks

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mr Isa Dutse, said on Wednesday that Federal, States and Local Government Councils shared N635.8 billion in November. Dutse disclosed this while addressing journalists after the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting in Abuja. He said the amount shared included Value Added Tax (VAT), exchange gain and Forex Equalisation. According to him, the gross statutory revenue generated for the month was N491.8 billion, which was lower than N596.04 billion received in the previous month, with a difference of N104.1 billion. Herdsmen ‘annex’, hoist flag near Ekiti gov’s hometown

Some suspected herdsmen have taken over some areas covering about 8km in Orin-Ekiti, Ido/Osi local government area of Ekiti State near Governor Kayode Fayemi’s hometown, Isan-Ekiti. The herders hoisted a red flag at the ‘annexed’ farmlands where they warned farmers to keep off or face death. Jigawa govt to build 95 mosques

Jigawa State Government has opened tender for the construction of 90 Friday congregational and five daily prayer mosques, across the 30 constituencies of the state. Senate yesterday rejected the visa-on-arrival policy of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying it is premature, considering the spate of insecurity in the country. Buhari signs 2020 Budget today

Eleven days after National Assembly passed the N10.594 trillion 2020 budget, President Muhammadu Buhari will today sign 2020 Appropriation Bill into law. The N10.59 trillion budget, which will be signed by the president at 3.30p.m., is N264 billion higher than the N10.33 trillion estimates presented by the president in October. UniAbuja sacks 2 professors, demotes others over sex scandal

University of Abuja has dismissed two of its professors over inappropriate relationships with some female students of the institution. New Senate bill takes road maintenance from FG

Senate has introduced a new bill that will take responsibility of road construction, rehabilitation and maintenance away from Federal Government. Violent protests erupt on streets of Beirut

Dozens were injured in clashes between protesters and security forces in central Beirut on Saturday, one of the most violent nights since anti-government demonstrations started in October. FG stops ex-CJN Onnoghen from traveling at airport, seizes passport
