Six inmates serving various prison terms at Ikoyi Correctional Center, Lagos, yesterday died after an electrical cable exploded. But Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, confirmed the deaths of five inmates and seven injured inmates. Several other inmates, at the center, were also seriously wounded during the explosion which jolted both inmates and workers inside the center. Reports say those injured are still unconscious as doctors are battling to revive them. The inmates were electrocuted in their cells following a power surge at about 7 am. House of Reps loses member

A member of House of Representatives, Mr Ja’afaru Illiyasu, is dead. The first term lawmaker who represents Magama/Rijau federal constituency of Niger State passed away on Monday morning. According to a source who didn’t want to be mentioned, the lawmaker died in his sleep. “He came back from Lagos last night, went to sleep but did not wake up,” he said. Federal Government has insisted that any undocumented alien that fails to take part in the e-registration of Nigeria Immigration Service will be deported after the January 12, 2020 deadline.
