Senate’s team to meet Buhari over alleged IG’s plot to frame Saraki

The crisis between the Senate and Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, worsened on Wednesday with the lawmakers resolving to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to report the activities of the police boss to him. Police reply Saraki, warn him against jeopardising murder investigations

Police have confirmed the transfer of suspects linked to a string of killings in Kwara State to Abuja. But police spokesperson, Mr Jimoh Moshood, said the transfer was not because of Senate President Bukola Saraki. He, however, warned that an alarm raised by Mr Saraki over the development could compromise investigation and demoralise families of those killed by the criminal gang. Sultan proclaims today beginning of Ramadan fasting

Sa’ad Abubakar III, Sultan of Sokoto has declared today Thursday as the first day for the beginning of the Ramadan fasting in Nigeria. Senate, House pass 2018 budget, raise spending to N9.1 trillion

Senate and House of Representatives have passed the 2018 budget, raising it by N500 billion. Both Houses on Wednesday approved a budget that rose from N8.6 trillion to N9.1 trillion, six months after it was presented by the executive. N’Assembly increases 2018 Budget by over N500bn

Almost six months after it was laid before a joint session of National Assembly, both Senate and House of Representatives Committees on Appropriations Tuesday laid the report of the 2018 N8.612 trillion budget at plenary, increasing the expenditure by over N500 billion to N9.120 trillion. FG approves N10bn for communities affected by violence

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved N10 billion for rehabilitation of communities affected by violent attacks in parts of the country. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo made the disclosure Tuesday during a visit to two internally displaced persons (IDPs) camps in Benue State.
