It stated this in the Country Report on Terrorism 2016 published by the US Department of State’s Bureau for Counterterrorism and Countering Violent Extremism. For instance, the report said the failure of State Security Services, SSS, which is primarily saddled with investigating cases of terrorism, to share information with Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, makes it hard to investigate terrorist financing. “While Nigerian military had primary responsibility for combating terrorism…

Resurgence of hostilities in Niger Delta became palpable Monday as Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), a coalition of elders and leaders of the region, asked the federal government to meet its 16-point agenda by November 1, 2017, or risk its withdrawal from ongoing negotiations that had calmed nerves in the oil-rich zone in the last one year. The forum also expressed regrets over National Assembly’s rejection of the constitution amendment bill on the devolution of powers from the federal government to the states, saying it was antagonistic to the interest of Niger Delta. U.S. President Donald Trump ousted recently hired White House communications chief Anthony Scaramucci on Monday over an obscene tirade, sources familiar with the decision said, in the latest staff upheaval for the six-month-old administration. The move, coming just 10 days after the Republican president named Scaramucci to the post, took place on the first day of work for Trump's new chief of staff, retired Marine Corps General John Kelly, who sources said was seeking to impose order on a White House riven with factions and backbiting. "There's a new sheriff in town," said Barry Bennett, a former Trump campaign adviser.…
