Nigerian Army has announced the death of D. C. Bako, a colonel and commander of 25 task force brigade, who was killed by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno state. Spokesman of the army’s Operation Lafiya Dole, Mr Ado Isa, said the colonel died from injuries sustained after his patrol team was ambushed by the insurgents. Bandits have kidnapped 42 persons, including women, in Gobirawar Cali village, in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of one person while three others were kidnapped by yet-to-be identified gunmen. Suspected bandits have killed five farmers at Yanteba village in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State. The farmers were said to have been killed in the early hours of Thursday morning at about 3:00 am.
