Kogi farmers protest destruction of farmland, crops by herdsmen

Hundreds of farmers in Egbe Community of Kogi State on Monday took to the street in protest against incessant destruction of their crops and farmlands by herdsmen. The farmers who said they have lost crops worth millions of Naira called on the State government to intervene in their predicament. Kidnappers who abducted Ogun farmers mock police, collect N3.5m ransom

Two farmers and one farm worker abducted by Fulani herdsmen for four days in Ogun State, have said their abductors mocked the police and collected N3.5m from them as ransom before their release. The farmers said the abductors, numbering about nine and armed with AK-47 rifles, invaded their farms in Tilele village, Ijebu-Igbo, in the Ijebu-North Local Government Area of the state and whisked them away into the bush. Ndume remanded in prison over inability to produce Maina in court

Abuja Division of the Federal High Court yesterday ordered the remand of Ali Ndume, a serving senator, at the Correctional Centre, Kuje, for failing to produce the former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, who is alleged to have jumped bail. Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Maina before the court over alleged N2 billion fraud. Abducted Nasarawa APC chairman found dead

Philip Shekwo, chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa state, has been found dead. Armed men abducted Shekwo from his residence in Lafia, the state capital, on Saturday night. 12 kidnapped police officers regain freedom

Nigerian police have announced the rescue of its 12 officers recently kidnapped along Katsina – Zamfara road. The force spokesperson, Frank Mba, made the announcement in a statement on Friday evening. He said two of the officers are currently receiving medical attention. The kidnap happened over 10 days ago. Bandits ambush police patrol team, kill mobile policeman, kidnap 14 villagers in Niger state

No fewer than 14 people were said to have been abducted by bandits, who also killed a mobile policeman and injured another in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State. Two killed, five kidnapped in bandits attack on Abuja-Kaduna expressway

Kaduna State Government has said that five people were kidnapped during Sunday’s attack on commuters along Abuja-Kaduna highway. Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, made the disclosure in a statement issued on Monday in Kaduna.
