Hundreds of farmers in Egbe Community of Kogi State on Monday took to the street in protest against incessant destruction of their crops and farmlands by herdsmen. The farmers who said they have lost crops worth millions of Naira called on the State government to intervene in their predicament. Abuja Division of the Federal High Court yesterday ordered the remand of Ali Ndume, a serving senator, at the Correctional Centre, Kuje, for failing to produce the former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, who is alleged to have jumped bail. Abducted Nasarawa APC chairman found dead

Philip Shekwo, chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa state, has been found dead. Armed men abducted Shekwo from his residence in Lafia, the state capital, on Saturday night. They were said to have exchanged gunfire with the security detail attached to the APC chairman before whisking him away. Gunmen attacked a Friday congregational mosque killing five worshippers and abducting many others in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, police and residents said. Residents said the incident happened at Dutsen Gari community of Kanoma District of Maru. 12 kidnapped police officers regain freedom

Nigerian police have announced the rescue of its 12 officers recently kidnapped along Katsina – Zamfara road. The force spokesperson, Frank Mba, made the announcement in a statement on Friday evening. He said two of the officers are currently receiving medical attention. The kidnap happened over 10 days ago. The officers were said to have been on their way to Zamfara from Borno State to carry out a special assignment. Unidentified gunmen attacked the Toru Orua country home of immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson on Wednesday night, but men of the Nigeria Police repelled the midnight attack.
