Gunmen kill one, kidnap three in Kogi

Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of one person while three others were kidnapped by yet-to-be identified gunmen. Commissioner of police, Mr Ayuba Ekpeji who confirmed the incident said the gunmen struck over the weekend at Royal Garden Relaxation spot, along Ayingba – Ankpa Highway, Egume community, in the Eastern flank of the state. Suspected bandits have killed five farmers at Yanteba village in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State. The farmers were said to have been killed in the early hours of Thursday morning at about 3:00 am. The bandits stormed the village on a reprisal attack after three of their colleagues were killed by community members. In a document seen by the media, the law, which took effect on September 11, stipulates strict penalties for males and females convicted of rape. Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have killed at least 10 persons and abducted an undisclosed number of passengers in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, sources have said. The victims were mostly passengers whose vehicles had parked along the road following the restriction of vehicular movement in the evening. Armed men on Saturday abducted a State Security Service (SSS) official in Katsina State and killed him a day later while in captivity.
