Niger State Government has dismissed 80 civil servants for allegedly placing themselves on salaries above their current status. Head of Service, Mrs Salamatu Abubakar, who disclosed this during a press conference in Minna, said that their dismissal was approved by State Executive Council at its meeting on Thursday. The Head of Service explained that those affected were uncovered by the salary committee earlier set up by the state Governor, Mr Abubakar Sani Bello. Philippines’ National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested four Nigerian in Municipal City for alleged involvement in hacking banks online and stealing funds from them. NBI Cybercrime Division chief, Mr Vic Lorenzo said the Nigerians were part of an international syndicate who hack banking systems, taking advantage of the flaws in their systems. They violated the Access Device Law, Anti-Cyber-crime law and falsification of public documents. Nigerian Army has confirmed killing of Mr Terwase Akwaza, alias “Gana,” the ‘most wanted criminal’ in Benue state. Commander, 4 Special Forces Command, Doma, Nasarawa state, Mr Moundhey Ali, told newsmen that Gana was killed at a roadblock mounted by the Army along Gbese-Gboko-Makurdi road following exchange of gunfire. Benue state government had in 2015 granted amnesty to over 500 persons including Gana, who were terrorising parts of Benue and Taraba states, but most of them relapsed into criminality. Boko Haram jihadists killed 10 civilians in attacks on three villages in restive northeast Nigeria, local security officials said Monday. Leader of a government-backed anti-jihadist militia, Mr Babakura Kolo, told AFP that the insurgents carried out the assaults on Sunday. Kolo said they raided the village of Kurmari, 40 kilometres (25 miles) from regional capital Maiduguri, killing four residents as they slept. Security operatives have arrested two suspects for allegedly defrauding German state of North Rhine-Westphalia of €2.3 million Covid-19 fund. At least 10 soldiers have been killed by suspected members of Islamic States West Africa Province (ISWAP) who attacked Garin Giwa village in Kukawa local government area of Borno state. No fewer than 17 vigilante men in Dukku town of Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State were on Wednesday evening ambushed and killed by bandits. A police officer and five others were on Wednesday killed in Kagara town following a bank robbery in Rafi local government area of Niger State.
