Osun State House of Assembly on Monday confirmed 38 out of 39 cabinet nominees submitted by Governor Rauf Aregbesola. The nominees were confirmed following a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Mr Timothy Owoeye, and seconded by the Minority Leader, Mr Akinwale Akinwole. Candidates who sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Delta on Monday complained of poor network during the examination. The candidates told NAN in Asaba in separate interviews that they also experienced malfunctioning mouse and computers that took too long to boot. Chukwuemeka Chijindu said that the poor network might have adverse impact on his result. Sixteen Nigerian universities have produced a total of 3499 first class graduates in the last five years, Daily Trust investigation has shown. The first five generation universities graduated 1, 661 students with the first class degrees within the period, nearly half the total. These are University of Lagos; Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife; University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Univeristy of Ibadan and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Within the same period, seven private universities established less than two decades ago produced a total of 1,161 first class graduates. Nigerian soldiers of Battalion 38, United Nation Mission in Liberia, UNMIL, who recently came back from a peacekeeping mission have allegedly written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari expressing dissatisfaction over non-payment of their five-month allowances. Eugene, a son of a former Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees Chairman, Chief Tony Anenih, has been reported dead. It was gathered that Eugene slumped and died while playing lawn tennis on Sunday in a Lagos club. Medical sources linked his death to heart attack.
