Boko Haram video clips mere propaganda, says army

Nigerian Army has said the two video clips released by one of the Boko Haram commanders swapped for the abducted Chibok schoolgirls, were mere propaganda and should be disregarded. The Boko Haram members had released two videos late on Friday, showing the swapped commander, who threatened to attack the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Akwa Ibom varsity expels 21 students

Akwa Ibom State University says the institution has expelled 21 students for various offences committed in 2016. Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Eno Ibanga, stated this while speaking with newsmen in Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enim Local Government Area of the state on Saturday. 258 Nigerians deported from Libya return home, some in pain

Authorities say hundreds of Nigerians deported from Libya have arrived back home, including one who sustained a gunshot wound. Deputy director of the National Emergency Management Agency, Bandele Onimode, says some of the 258 returnees are suffering from depression and malnutrition. Four children and an infant were among the group that arrived in Lagos late Thursday. 357 prison inmates to write UTME – JAMB

Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, says out of the 1.7 million candidates that will sit for UTME examinations today, 357 are prison inmates. Professor Is-haq Oloyede, Registrar of the board, disclosed this at a news conference on Friday in Abuja. Oloyede also said that the UTME examination scheduled for May 13 has not been postponed. Heavy gunfire in Ivory Coast in latest military unrest

Witnesses say there is new military unrest in Ivory Coast's two largest cities involving some of the soldiers who were behind a mutiny in January. The violence comes a day after Ivorian television broadcast some of the mutinous soldiers meeting with President Alassane Ouattara. They apologized for their actions and dropped their demand for unpaid bonuses.
