FG sets up committees on revenue sharing formula, others

Federal Government has constituted 12 committees to review the present revenue sharing formula of the federation as well as ways to expand the revenue base of the nation. Chairman, Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Mr Elias Mbas made the disclosure, yesterday, in Abuja at the inauguration of chairmen and members of the Committees. Under the current revenue sharing fomular, Federla Government gets 52.68 per cent, states 26.73 per cent and local councils 20.60 percent while 13 per cent goes to oil bearing communities. South Africa to waive visa for Ghana, Cuba citizens

Minister of Home Affairs, Mr Aaron Motsoaledi, on Thursday announced that South Africa will implement visa waiver for citizens of Ghana, Cuba, and Sao Tome and Principe, to promote tourism. Motsoaledi said his department was scheduled to complete negotiations with the countries by the end of August and that the implementation would follow soon after. Earlier, South Africa announced visa waiver for citizens of New Zealand, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. Buhari signs Bill changing name of Nigerian Prisons Service

President Muhammadu Buhari has signed Nigerian Correctional Service Bill into law. The Act repeals Nigerian Prisons Service Act. Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Mr Ita Enang, disclosed this to State House correspondent in Abuja on Wednesday. Governor of Borno State, Mr Babagana Zulum, has given out some parts of Sambisa forest, a stronghold of Boko Haram insurgents, for Rural Grazing Area (RUGA) programme. Ibadan varsity imposes curfew on campus, bars males from female hostels

Following recent robbery attacks on students of University of Ibadan, authorities of the institution on Tuesday imposed partial curfew on the university campus. The partial curfew, according to a statement signed by the university’s Vice Chancellor, Mr Idowu Olayinka, takes effect from Wednesday (14th August) from 12 midnight to 5:00am daily until further notice. Police killing: DHQ orders Taraba battalion to produce freed kidnap kingpin

Death toll among Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi rises to 9 - NAHCON

Number of Nigerian pilgrims that died while performing 2019 Hajj in Saudi Arabia has risen to nine, Chairman, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Mr Ibrahim Kana, has announced.
